find information on Japanese mythology, or in particular on Raijin and Fujin , it is virtually impossible. Thanks for this post Wikipedia, the sole supplier of decent information. However, the Japanese mythology is far more fascinating than you think. But the question you assillerà right now (I'm sure!) Is: What has Raijin and Fujin with Saikoro Park ?
course will not answer this question. :)
Raijin (left) and Fujin (right)
Raijin (雷神 Raijin ) in Japanese mythology is the name that indicates the god of thunder and lightning. The name comes from the Japanese word rai (雷 thunder ) and shin (神 god). It is often represented with the appearance of a demon and drums with which he creates the thunder.
Raijin is also known by the following names:
- Kaminari-sama: kaminari (雷, thunder) and -sama (様, a Japanese honorific form)
- Raiden-sama : rai (雷, thunder), den (电, light), and -sama
- Narukami : naru (鸣, Thunderer) and kami (神, god)
Japanese iconography is also portrayed along with Fujin, the god of the wind.
Fujin (风神) is the Japanese god of the wind. It is said that he was present at the creation of the world, and that left out the wind from his sack, has eliminated the morning mists and filled the Gate between heaven and earth so the sun shone.
He is portrayed as a terrifying dark demon, like a black humanoid with red hair wearing a leopard skin, carrying a large bag of winds on their shoulders.
A legend of Chinese Buddhism states that Fujin and Raijin were both originally evil demons who opposed the Buddha. They were captured in battle with the army of heaven, Buddha, and work as gods since then.
